The Friends of the Congo (FOTC) is a 501 (c) 3 tax-exempt advocacy organization based in Washington, DC. The FOTC was established at the behest of Congolese human rights and grassroots institutions in 2004, to work together to bring about peaceful and lasting change in the Democratic Republic of Congo, formerly Zaire.
Our aim is to:
1. Bring an end to the conflict
2. Contribute to fulfilling the enormous human and natural potential of the Congo
We pursue our aims through EMS:
Education – we offer an extensive and easily accessible resource center where people learn about Congo’s history, politics, economy, geography, and culture
Mobilization – we mobilize people throughout the globe to be engaged in bringing about peace and stability in the Congo. Encourage your family, friends loved ones and others in your network to get involved
Support – we provide support to courageous and dynamic Congolese institutions working day and night to transform the lives of ordinary people throughout the country
